Ahhhh. Remember at your family's Christmas or Thanksgiving feasts in years past when someone else volunteered to take on bringing the stewed tomatoes ...argh!!!!!!!!!! NO ONE ever could make them like my mother! In the pic is the original sheet but if you would like a free copy from my new recipe binder I now have, drop me an email and I will send it to you. But I can't guarantee it will taste as good as my mother's!

William Shatner, Randy Travis & Toshiba
Shatner ... Travis ... & Toshiba!!!
These three kept popping back into my mind again and again this week...
William Shatner ...on Good Morning America this past week... talking about his new NY show...50 years from being there the last time. He is 80 now...cool!
Randy Travis doing a 25 year tour around the southern states.
Our 15 + year old Toshiba tv...big, clunky, heavy and dependable..traveled with us from Va to Md to Fl...great pics very dependable...died this past week..
Each of these has given me so many happy comfortable safe moments!!!... Shatner with his old Star Trek tv shows...he could out think, out wit, anything that came his way! His brains, looks and sexy humor! Whew! Still there!
Randy Travis's songs' words and deep voice telling us he would love us forever and ever ...listening to him on my way home from school flying down route 95 in the days of cb's letting you know where the smokies were..HA!...made your heart laugh and sing right along with him. These sissy country male singers of today have no clue how pitiful they are next to HIS VOICE! Wish he was coming over near Tampa but he is going to be in other parts of the state... And then there is our old Toshiba...day after day never letting us down after a hard day at work ..comfort.. togetherness..a feeling.. a security in our lumpy old sofas enjoying whatever the heck we wanted to watch knowing for a short time we were safe from the worries of that day! When the Toshiba died this week it was like loosing one of the family...and then to make matters worse .. we had to venture out into the new world of LEDs and LCDs and HDs.and make tough decisions..it was like going out to another planet without Shatner's and Nemoy's beam equipment to get us home safely with the RIGHT tv...but we eventually did it! Got us a new Vizio big enough to read the words from across the street...clear enough to think the people in the screen are stepping into our room and beautiful sounds exciting to our ears just like Randy's voice bringing back really cool memories from our child raising years!

One Steve Jobs Too Many!
This book is being sold because our daughter and son-in-law got the same book from us and another person. I have my own copy which I love! They kept their own copy and we are putting this on Ebay for others to enjoy. When we bought it, it arrived with a skuff/surface wear spot on the top side of the pages. But other than that it is great shape.
Everyone who is over 30 should not miss it. It brings to the reader where we were in the 60s/70s and how we got where we are now with all our techy stuff here in 2012. Simply amazing! And he was such a big part of it.

My Bucket List of Books to Read for 2012 And Number One is Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson
Happy New Year! Yep I can't believe it myself. I swore after writing my blog here on October 8, 2011

I would have no interest in this book. But the more I read and heard I decided after looking around my home and seeing the techy things I have I would HAVE to check it out ...
What a book! What were YOU doing in 1975?? I was moving towards a new exciting marriage...a new home...raising two wonderful girls..and loving life teaching in Prince William County Va...and life was good...and AT THE SAME time out on the west coast of our country in little houses just like Dale City there was a guy coming home from Asia..remeeting with his buddy Steve Wozniak to do something for Atari. It is so hard to believe how THEN became NOW in such a short time! And much of it came from this small group of high school/college kids!
Isaacson is SOOO good at telling the good and the bad about Jobs and all those who were a part of his life. I can't put the book down but I am reading it slowly and savoring it and I also have other books on my iphone, Kindle, tablet and computer I jump into during each day. Ha! Ha! Life is good!
I am only up to page 52 but knew I would be giving this book to each of our kids and their husbands for Christmas. And this I also know at this point:
1.Adopted children and parents of adopted children should read this book to see how adoption impacted Jobs for the good and bad. His adoptive parents gave him so much that launched him on his way!
2. Thinking back to Dancing with the Stars when Steve Wozniak was there. he was certainly under appreciated and at times treated rudely. You really get to value him in this book and I think we owe him a lot of the value Jobs gets.
3.I like Jobs more because he liked Bob Dylan. Ha! Love that Dylan!
4. Jobs was certainly a combination of good and bad as we all are and Isaacson brilliantly brings out both.
5. Don't underestimate and don't underdevelop our gifted kids' educations in these financial hard times. No Jobs didn't take courses he didn't value but the courses he wanted and took WERE there for him to grow.
