World War Memorial & Kirmo Laundry ...

World War Memorial & Kirmo Laundry

Walked by these everyday on the way to elementary school. This pic was taken in the 1940s or earlier. Back then there were victory gardens across from our houses and frequent ceremonies at flags and memorials and monuments in the nearby Gwynns Falls Park & elsewhere celebrating and remembering those who served our country. Wonder if this is still there at Frederick Avenue and Brunswick St in Baltimore Maryland. Love the flags!
How sad that we take for granted and go on with our lives without enough thoughts for those who have served in these past ten years. Thank you all and Blessings!

Baltimore in the 40's at Holiday Time ....

Now see ...this is what I mean...very few know these cool relatives from the past. Bert in the middle loved to pull a joke with the family "picking eggs" at Easter. Now if you are from Baltimore you probably have "picked eggs" at Easter! Check out the outfits. Rob far back was a wonderful uncle who went in swimming with the kids on the rivers in the summer near Baltimore like Kurtz's...Cottie on the right stayed that pretty her whole life even in her later years. Bertha, Burt's wife was having fun in this pic:check out her gloves!

When Sledding Was Good in Baltimore

When Sleddin Was Good In Baltimore!

Yep! In Baltimore in 1945...when you could start at the top of this hill...veer to the left and on good hard icy packed snow go all the way down the hills to the river at the bottom of the Gwynns Falls Park. Now you can't ...houses and police stations and tons of people are there now. "Georgie", Sylvia and I can go back and enjoy the memories though... thanks to Georgi's family giving me this LABLED pic!
